# \[AMPL 24737\] Matlab setup

I ran the sample code “firstExample.m” after i ran the “setupOnce.m” file on Matlab and got the following error message:

"Error using AMPL  
Java exception occurred:  
java.lang.RuntimeException: AMPL could not be started: The  
system cannot find the file specified.

at com.ampl.ampljavaJNI.new\_AMPLBase\_\_SWIG\_0(Native  
Method)

at com.ampl.AMPLBase.(AMPLBase.java:40)

at com.ampl.AMPL.(AMPL.java:129)

Error in firstExample (line 3)  
ampl = AMPL;"

Any advice? Is this because of the path issues?
